Hello and welcome to Forever Touring! Thank you so much for spending a little of your time with us.   Whether you are planning a road trip across North America or have an urban European adventure in mind, our goal is to provide you with sensible, useful travel advice.  Since we never write about places we haven’t been ourselves, you can be sure that everything you read and pictures you see are things we have actually seen and done.  We hope you enjoy the travel experiences and tips we share on this site.

Who are we?

We are James and Linda, a married couple living in the mountains of North Carolina. We have always enjoyed traveling, with most of our travel taking place in North America and Europe.  Since we both spent our careers managing software development projects, we tend to be diligent planners and spend a lot of time nailing down all the details of our trips.

We understand that trip planning can be overwhelming.  After all, once you have decided where to go, you still need to decide how to get there, where to stay, where to eat, what to do, etc.  This process can be really time consuming and a bit daunting.  You can always chose to utilize a travel agent and that is often an excellent choice.  However, we have found that despite the work, we truly enjoy the planning process and all of the anticipation and excitement that process creates.  Our hope is to pass along information that will make your adventures easier to plan and ultimately more enjoyable.

What does Forever Touring mean?

We believe that traveling should be a life-long pursuit.   You are never too young and you should certainly never consider yourself too old to travel.  Your travel style and destinations may change over the years, but why ever stop?  We think the name Forever Touring captures that idea.  We hope to keep traveling for years to come, because no matter how many trips you make, there is always another place to go, things to see and people to meet.

What you won’t get

It seems like a lot of blog sites focus on low cost travel, and how to find the most cost effective accommodations and restaurants.  But that’s not us.  At this stage of life, we’re beyond the backpacking and hostel type of travel and prefer to travel a bit more comfortably. By the same token, we are not into luxe travel. Instead we tend to seek out experiences that won’t break the bank, while still providing some nice amenities, as well as exposure to local cultures and cuisine.

What you also won’t get is advertising.  No banner ads, pop-up ads or affiliate links.  For us, this is a hobby that we enjoy.  We make no money from this site.

As you peruse the site, please always feel free to ask us questions or to offer your insight.  We enjoy learning from fellow travelers too, as we journey around the world together.
